Support for the Surface Duo 2 will officially end in a few weeks
Microsoft has rolled out the final security update for its Surface Duo 2 dual-screen smartphone. This comes ahead of the device’s official end of support on October 21, according to Windows Central.
The original Surface Duo, launched in September 2020, aimed to merge smartphones and tablets into one device. It featured dual screens and a customized Android OS. Microsoft marketed it as the ideal productivity tool for users on the go.

However, the Surface Duo 2, released in October 2021, faced several issues. Critics pointed out bugs, performance problems, and limited software support. Additionally, its high price deterred many potential buyers. Our review noted both major strengths and significant drawbacks, contributing to low adoption rates and difficulty in finding a broad audience.
Microsoft discontinued support for the original Surface Duo a year ago. Now, with the impending end of support for the Surface Duo 2, the entire product line is set to be phased out. This decision aligns the Duo series with other discontinued Microsoft mobile products, such as Windows Phone and Lumia.
