US Launches Airstrikes on Iran’s Nuclear Sites

The US attacked Iran’s nuclear sites recently. As a result, tensions in the Middle East have increased. The conflict could get worse soon. Therefore, Iran warned the US to prepare for a response.

The US targeted three nuclear sites: Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan. To reach them, seven B-2 bombers flew 18 hours. Then, they dropped 14 powerful bombs. These bombs can destroy deep underground targets.

Mixed Reports on Damage

Pentagon officials said the strikes caused big damage. However, they are not sure how much damage. Meanwhile, President Trump said the sites were “completely destroyed.” Still, military leaders urged caution.

On the other hand, Iran said its nuclear program was not badly hurt. Officials moved much of the enriched uranium before the strike. Satellite photos show fresh craters at Fordow. Nevertheless, Iran said it will keep working on its nuclear plans.

Iran Threatens to Fight Back

Iran’s leader told France’s president the US must face consequences. Also, Iran’s foreign minister will meet Russia’s president soon. Furthermore, Iran’s parliament said it might close the Strait of Hormuz if needed.

Iran fired about 20 missiles at Israel. This caused alarms and injuries. Then, Israel struck back by attacking missile bases and troops in Iran. Consequently, the fighting is getting worse fast.

World Leaders Ask for Calm

Leaders around the world want both sides to stop fighting. The UN held emergency talks to address the crisis. The US said the strikes were needed to stop Iran’s nuclear weapons. Meanwhile, Russia and China criticized the strikes. They said the attacks make the world less safe.

Israel’s prime minister praised the US strikes. He said Israel is close to stopping Iran’s nuclear and missile threats. In addition, the US said it targets Iran’s nuclear program, not Iran itself.

Danger of a Bigger War

This is a big change in US policy. The Trump administration acted with force. Some worry this could start a long war. At the same time, Iran said it will defend itself no matter what.

The US used special bombs to hit underground sites. These places are well protected. However, officials said they don’t know if all of Iran’s nuclear work was destroyed. This worries many people.

Iran might fight back by hitting US bases or closing the Strait of Hormuz. This would disrupt oil shipments. Thus, the conflict could hurt the region and the world economy.

Human and Economic Damage

Iran’s missile attack on Israel caused panic and injuries. Moreover, more fighting could hurt even more civilians. Therefore, the cost in lives could rise fast.

Talks to solve the problem have stopped. Iran’s foreign minister said diplomacy is over. Iran will work more with Russia. Meanwhile, the world is split. Some support the US, while others oppose it.

What Comes Next?

The US wants to stop Iran from getting nuclear weapons. Trump and Netanyahu work together on this. However, many fear the conflict could get worse.

People hope for peace. Still, war is a real risk. Both sides seem ready for more fighting.
